This week, The Orielles and Sports Team embark on a mini-tour courtesy of ODYXXEY, POND and Fresh Juice – the first of its kind in encouragement of up and coming independent music. The tour kicks-off tomorrow, 31 March, visiting BLEACH (Brighton), Oakford Social Club (Reading) and The Louisiana (Bristol).
Sisters Esme and Sid Hand-Halford, and friend Henry Wade formed The Orielles in Halifax, however could hail straight from California with earlier tracks reminiscent of any Burger Records release. ‘Joey Says We Got It‘ is instantly soaring with summer charm and fuzzy guitars, ‘Space Doubt‘ is full of Esme’s airy vocals and reverb-ridden guitar lines, and the Jobin EP takes their traditionally surf-pop sound even further – with hints to riot grrrl thrashiness and a pushing maturity that proves that the excitement of a band way ahead at their young ages, is about to take over and captivate the UK.
They continue their current tour of the UK this Spring with new songs galore, alongside slacker pop band Sports Team known for rowdy live performances earning them comparisons to Pavement and The Velvet Underground.
