Indie rock may seem like an oversaturated genre and you’d be right for saying it is. Every new day brings with it another 3 or 4 bands trying to replicate the success of Peace and Wolf Alice and while in the appearance department they may be ticking off all the clichés for being in an indie rock band (member with denim jacket and mid length hair, another sipping his tea), TRASH know what is most important when it comes to providing reverb full, indie goodness.
This is most true on Workout, their recently released track is a bit of an oxymoron in the sense that we have sound clashing with lyrical content. You wouldn’t think for a second that this song packed to the brim with some pretty lovely drums and infectious guitar riffs would be talking about things like anxiety but that’s exactly what is provided. Whilst discussing such topics isn’t totally original by any means, TRASH seem confident that they can keep any new listeners entertained with the sound without having to dumb down what they have to say to get their attention. Hats off to them for it, here’s hoping the band maintain this integrity in future releases.
